American multi-instrumentalist Julien Baker has announced a 2021-2022 tour in North America and Europe. The tour will start on Sept. 3 in Birmingham, AL, and go through November 16 in St. Louis, MO. Baker will pick the tour up again in April the following year, making stops in Germany, England, France, and other European countries.
The tour supports her latest solo album, Little Oblivions, which was released earlier this year. Before that, she performed a cover of Radiohead’s “Everything In Its Right Place” for a SiriusXMU Live Session. Some of you may recognize baker from the indie rock band Boygenius, alongside Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus. Little Oblivions was written in 2019 prior to the pandemic and focuses on Baker’s mental health and sobriety.
“I just didn’t realize how much was there that I hadn’t dealt with, and how much my negative coping mechanisms were going to continue to add new problems,” Baker told Rolling Stone. “I re-examined a whole lot of things: My relationship to substances and my identity as sober or straight edge, and how those things are all different and what that means. That was a very loaded process, and I didn’t handle it well.”
Baker will be joined by Thao, Dehd, Katie Malco, and Ratboys for select dates on this upcoming tour, and tickets go on sale Friday. See below for full dates.
