Members of Slowdive, The Flaming Lips, The Soft Cavalry, and Casket Girls are coming together to create a new indie rock supergroup, calling themselves Beachy Head. The band consists of Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell and Christian Savill, The Flaming Lips drummer Matt Duckworth, Ryan Graveface from Casket Girls and Dreamend, and Steve Clarke, from The Soft Cavalry.

The new supergroup has some exciting news and releases for us as well. The group’s self-titled debut album is set to come out April 30 via Graveface Records. The band was gracious enough to share with us their closing track from the album “Destroy Us” via Bandcamp.

This project started in 2019 when Savill began to write without a purpose. Eventually, the songs that he did write “felt different in that they’re more personal and honest,” so he reached out to others, according to the liner notes on Bandcamp.

“Ryan and Christian put flesh on the bones in Savannah [Georgia] just before Covid struck. Matt Duckworth added drums. In between lockdowns back in the UK Steve added harmonies and other instrumentation. The final touch of recording was Rachel Goswell contributing vocals on a few songs.”
