Former Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij has released a new song ‘Unfold You’. The soulful track is a strong departure from his previous work with Vampire Weekend and collaborations with Hamilton Leithauser that have previously come to define him as an artist. In contrast to Vampire Weekend’s upbeat indie pop sound, ‘Unfold You’ is a much more mellow, soulful track, landing somewhere between Jazz and modern R&B.
For Rostam, who has helped define the music of so many artists, the new song comes as another big step for him defining his own sound. Rostam has previously worked as a writer and producer with an extensive list of artists including Ra Ra Riot, Santigold, Frank Ocean, Haim, Declan McKenna, Maggie Rogers, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Charlie XCX.
