Mitski, a Japanese-American singer-songwriter, has announced a 2022 tour starting in February. Along with the announcement, she has shared a new song, “Working for the Knife,” and a music video for the song directed by Zia Anger and Ashley Connor directing photography. The song itself is produced by Mitski’s longtime collaborator Patrick Hyland. This is Mitski’s first new music since her 2018 Be the Cowboy. Since that album, Mitski has been on a three year hiatus. You can watch the video and see all the tour dates below.
“It’s about going from being a kid with a dream, to a grown up with a job, and feeling that somewhere along the way you got left behind,” Mitski said of the new song in a statement. “It’s being confronted with a world that doesn’t seem to recognize your humanity, and seeing no way out of it.”
