Coldplay has released their first new single of 2021, “High Power,” along with a music video. The single, produced by Max Martin, was teased last earlier last week. The band premiered this single via an extraterrestrial transmission (complete with dancing alien holograms) from the International Space Station. They were able to accomplish this with the virtual help of French ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who is currently aboard the ISS. Hopefully, this is the beginning of Coldplay wanting to hit the road again, who said they would no longer be doing so because of the environmental impacts. Listen to the new single below.
“Last year was a quite an eye-opener,” Lead singer Chirs Martin told BBC Radio 2. “I was like, ‘Who am I without Wembley stadium, saying you’re awesome?’ I’m trying in my life right now to not attach too much to being a pop star. I’m trying not to get my self-worth from external validation.”
