St. Vincent, aka Annie Clarke, has announced the release of a new single ‘Pay Your Way In Pain’ through a video teaser on social media. The minute long clip features Clarke running through a decrepit apartment complex, chasing the ring of an old telephone. Once Clarke reaches the phone, she answers “Hello”, to which a deep voice replies “Hello, Annie”.
The video ends with the message “CALL NOW! 1-833-77-DADDY”, with the DADDY at the end referring to the anticipated name of her upcoming album Daddy’s Home, expected to be released this May. For fans who call the number, they’ll be greeted with a recording of Clarke saying “hello” twice, followed by the same dark voice from the trailer video saying “She’s back, in a new role like you’ve never seen her before. Featuring the new single ‘Pay Your Way In Pain.” Nobody expected it, nobody believed it, and nobody could stop it.” You can also hear a few seconds of the music, although it is very heavily distorted.
No release date for the single was announced, but the rumor is that it will be released this Friday, meaning fans likely won’t have to wait too long to hear new music from the two time Grammy Award winning singer songwriter.
